SANTA FE, N.M. (July 8, 2026) Donna Gunther-Brown is an American contemporary visual artist based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, whose work focuses on expressive abstraction. Her vibrant, frequently metaphysical paintings, sculptures and mixed media works have been featured in prominent regional exhibitions and galleries. She utilizes diverse surfaces and materials to create a layered, interpretive subtext.
Over a dedicated career, Donna has studied the art and culture of numerous nations, tribes, religions, and schools of thought. By synthesizing these diverse global influences, she has developed a personal iconography resulting in unique constructs combining historical tradition with contemporary awareness.
Her portfolio spans the “edge of reality,” combining texture, color, and line to interpret the collective human experience (sorrows, triumphs, the natural order of life, and our environment). Her water-based media are gouache, tempera, acrylic, inks, and casein on board panels and paper, periodically combining painting and collage.
Gunther-Brown’s original mixed-media pieces have been represented by galleries around the country; Aspen, Boulder, Santa Fe, and Washington, DC., as well as appearing in art exhibitions and publications.
